The Municipality of Bangued is the capital town of the Province of Abra under the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). It is a first class municipality, politically subdivided into 31 barangays, 7 are classified as urban popularly known as the "Poblacion". A landlocked municipality and strategically located in the western portion of the province. It is accessible 408 kms. of Manila going north, 197 kms. going Northeast from Baguio City and 60 kms. East of Vigan City.

      The economy of the municipality is heavily dependent on agriculture followed by trade and industry. Chinese businessmen dominate trading and manufacturing as a common preoccupation of the populace.
